Gabby, you run @GabsGoods on IG. Are you a foodie? Tell us more about the project.
G: Yes! I would say I am a big foodie. I love to explore the cities I visit, and live in, for all food spots, the known, unknown, hole in the wall, fancy you name it, and I will go. When I travel, I create lists of places I want to try and eat at, I’ve even created an excel spreadsheet, listing all the places I have been, what restaurant/bar it is, and the reason why it’s good. Ha-ha I’m not even kidding, I can share the list with you as well. However, as much as I love to eat, I also love to cook, and that is the core of what GabsGoods is about. Me cooking and showcasing my recipes to everyone, I have just started my company so it’s new, but I’ve been cooking / catering events all my life.
If your friend could tell us a funny story about you, what would it be?
G: I would say, my friends all know I am infamous for losing anything and everything, there are dozens upon dozens of times I have misplaced my phone, my wallet, my keys, you name it, I’ve lost it more than once. With this being said, I would say a funny story, was the time I somehow managed to throw my wallet away in a NYC park trash can unknowingly. After not realizing until HOURS later when I needed to buy something, did my world come spiraling down haha, my friends and I retraced every inch of our entire day and found nothing! As soon as I was about to give up, I literally looked at the garbage can and said “noooo can’t be” and decided, fuck it, I’m going to look, and voila!! My fucking wallet was there haha.
How would you describe your personal brand?
G: I would say, GabsGoods is my current personal brand. To describe it would be, I’ve got the goods, meaning my brand is here to provide you with all things delicious, recipes, new eateries to try, food reviews, merchandise, podcasts, everything! You need it, I got it, kind of thing, I’ve got the goods.
They say you are what you eat, what are you?
G: Damn, now I can never fully answer these types of questions because I really do love so many dishes, but If I had to choose one off the top of my head, I’d say a sandwich lol! I fucking love a good sandwich, and bread haha. You can take two pieces and virtually fill em with anything in between, make something classic, make something new, that’s the beauty of a sandwich it’s a constant creation!
Tell us about the most memorable vacation you’ve had, or the most beautiful place you’ve visited, and what about that memory just stands out?
G: I would say the most memorable vacation I had, was something called “summer camp” it was a huuuuuge festival my old job threw each summer, and the years that I went, we were flown to England for a camping festival which was filled with not only every employee from each region we had, but there was a plethora of food, drinks, games, incredible activities, dancing, celebrity performances and just all around good vibes. I was surrounded for a weekend with amazing friends and met so many new people that I still talk to today! – What stood out the most in my memory was, after the camping trip ended, a few friends and I hopped around Europe and Spain for a week and it was the best time I’ve ever had!
You are quite beautiful. Do you do your own photography or do you work with professional photographers? If you work with professional photographers, what do you look for in a photographer to feel comfortable?
G: Thank you so much for that! To be honest, I do not work with any professional photographers, I do happen to know a few friends that are, so sometimes for fun they’ll snap my photo, but I mainly record my own footage or photos right from my phone.
Being a foodie, how important is the emphasis on health and wellness?
G: I think to me, health and wellness is super important, I want to live as long as I can, so I can eat delicious food for as long as possible, so I say if you can find any way, even small, to incorporate, something healthy into your everyday meals, you’ll not only feel good eating it, but you will in turn, look better as well, there is SO much nutrients in the food we have out there, make it a habit to be healthy.
Being part of an industry whose only emphasis is on the outside characteristics of a person, how have you stayed grounded?
G: I must admit, what keeps me grounded is just not caring, I am someone who def is guilty of falling into over thinking almost everything, so imagine if I cared about the industries standards, I am not falling into that kind of culture, I keep my self-surround by my good friends, family, and cooking! It clears my mind.
If you could model and work with any brand, which would it be and why?
G: I would say Playboy! It has always given, classy sex appeal to me, they have super cute photo shoots they do, I’ve always wanted to be shot for the magazine, I think I would feel beautiful and sexy, but still with a splash of class, if that makes sense lol.
How do you think food and travel go hand in hand? What about the two that are so relevant and similar?
G: Oh, they go hand in hand because, there are SO many countries out there full of new flavors to try, and smell, and taste, if you don’t travel, how would you ever know what an authentic Italian pizza tastes like, or how real naan bread is made, and by who? Yeah, you can go to a restaurant of the same culture, but it won’t be the same as eating it from the country, or even state, it originated from.
How do you think the rise of influencer accounts on Instagram has impacted on the way that people discover restaurants/chefs/bar/and food?
G: I think social media has been extremely helpful in the way we discover new places or even support business, I even personally have Instagram to thank for discovering one of my favorite bars. Blogs and websites, aren’t used by the mass as they once used to be, people are already on these social platforms, daily, and because influencers have a lot of reach via their following count, people are already obsessed with whatever the influencer is saying doing eating, so by the influencer posting where they are going to eat, or have eaten, it eliminates the need to manually search for places.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
G: Yea! Always remember to stand up for yourself, don’t let people think they can treat you any type of way. You are your biggest supporter.
