Missy who are you, what is your journey so far?
M: I’m a Snow Princess that should be a Beach Queen. I grew up in a small town in Northeast Pennsylvania, spent a few years living in Okinawa, and I currently live in upstate NY. I’m dying to trade in the snow for some sand!
What’s your take on Instagram in general? Do you like to curate your feed or keep it as close as possible to your authentic self?
M: So far, I’ve really enjoyed Instagram. I have met some pretty awesome people that I wouldn’t have otherwise. My feed shows a small glimpse of who I am. It’s the wilder side of me that I don’t get to show in my day to day life.
Who have been the most interesting people you’ve met so far through Instagram?
M: Haha…I have yet to work with a photographer with a bad personality. They have all been so different from each other, yet all of them have been so much fun! I’ve worked with a Whiskey lovin’ photographer that drank right from bottle during the entire shoot. I’ve shot with Doctors who like to do photography on the side. Duo shoots with other models have been interesting to say the least, and I’ve met some of the most beautiful, sweetest girls!
Being part of an industry whose only emphasis is on the outside characteristics of a person, how have you stayed grounded?
M: I’ve got a lot going on in my life aside from Instagram and modeling. I’m constantly on the run! I think maybe I’m too busy to get lost in the hype.
What are your three favorite trends at this moment?
M: Trends…trends…trends? I don’t think I follow trends.
Let’s talk about photo shoots. What do you look for in the photographer when you’re looking to schedule a shoot? What are the must haves to work with you?
M: When deciding to shoot with a photographer I’m looking at his/her previous work and style. I will check references to make sure he/she is professional. You wouldn’t believe some of the messages that I receive from shady photographers! I want to work with someone with experience and that values their own work.
Is there work behind a photo posted on Instagram?
M: I find that my best shoots are the ones that I jump into with the least planning. I just show up, don’t overthink and go with the flow!
Do you give importance to a healthy lifestyle / diet?
M: Of course! And I am by no means perfect. I fall off course from time to time, but when I eat healthy, I feel good.
Something you love and hate about your home state?
M: Well, the hate is an easy one…I hate cold weather and snow! I love the summers, though! The Fingerlakes are gorgeous this time of year!
Where do you get your taste in fashion?
M: I have taste in fashion?? Honestly, my go to is a pair of gym leggings and a crop top. If my man’s lucky, I’ll take his advice and wear something he’s picked out.
Where do you hope your Instagram journey takes you? What are you looking forward to in the new year? Anything we should be on the lookout for?
M: Right now, I am enjoying the ride. I don’t have a destination in mind. As long as I continue to have a good time, I’ll ride the wave wherever it takes me. The amazing people I’ve met so far have opened the doors to exciting possibilities and collaborations. I do have a few shoots scheduled for later this summer in NYC, so be on the lookout for some new content!
