The young and the ambitious tells a story of Hanna Sint aka @sintasticc who takes photography to a whole new aesthetic level. Read her full interview and follow her on Instagram so you too can be part of her journey!
Who is Hanna Sint and how did she develop an interest in Modeling, Fashion and Travel respectively?
H: I’m a 21-yr-old senior at Loyola University Chicago about to graduate with a BS in Biology. I got “thrown into” modeling when a friend suggested that his photographer should hit me up for a shoot to promote some sunglasses. I thought I was only shooting with one person but met four other people when I got there. From there, people started wanting to shoot with me and I found myself enjoying it a lot. With fashion, I’ve always been conscious with the way I dressed. I haven’t been able to travel much because I’m always studying but I my family lives in LA now, so I have been going back and forth from Chicago to LA.
How would you describe your philosophy on health and fitness?
H: Health and fitness are important, the more you take care of yourself, the more you stay away from getting sick, and the less you get sick, the more things you can accomplish. Being a college student, it is important to stay healthy because I am always getting hit with deadlines and events that I have to tend to. As a model, I definitely am conscious about how I look, so it is important for me to stay fit.
Being part of an industry whose only emphasis is on the outside characteristics of a person, how have you stayed grounded?
H: My friends and family keep me grounded. No matter how much school or modeling demands, I always try to keep my life balanced by making time to hang out with friends. I treat my photographers like my friends, and I am the same person when I am modeling as when I am by myself.
Of all the places you’ve lived and visited, is there anywhere in particular that has the most appeal to you?
H: I have been dying to go back to Burma, or Myanmar. I am Burmese, both my parents are Chinese and Burmese… so that makes me fully Burmese?? I’ve only been twice. Both of them when I was very young, and I have very fond memories. Back then, I feel like I was too young to appreciate my culture and family traditions but now I am old enough to understand and ask questions about who I am, and I am yearning to go back.
Your Instagram feed is flawless and aesthetically pleasing. Do you like to curate your feed or keep it as close as possible to your authentic self?
H: I aim to keep my Instagram as close as possible to my authentic self. I definitely post whatever I want and however I want. But at the same time, I like to keep it organized, so I try to organize it by color scheme or by making sets from the same shoot.
General words of wisdom you live by….
H: “The best way out is always through” -Robert Frost
What’s your favorite thing to do in your down time?
H: I think dancing and sleeping are tied to my favorite things to do… I am still a college student, so sleep is very rare for me because I’m so busy. But also, dancing is my best stress reliever.
What is your stance on influencers being paid to post about brands? Should influencers be transparent regarding payment for posts?
H: I think it’s a great job to get paid and work with different brands, if it benefits both parties, I say that’s a success. I think influencers should be transparent because I believe in being real as possible. I hope everyone knows that not all things are Instagram are as real as they seem and in regard to myself, I plan to be as real as possible. I would not want to be deceived myself so I wouldn’t want others to be deceived. In addition to that, I would only endorse brands or products that I would shop from. I would never work with something I didn’t believe in just for the money.
Favorite styles or trends at the moment?
H: I’m a little late but super obsessed with the fluffy cropped jackets and tiktoks.
Best moment/memory of 2019? and what are you looking forward to in 2020?
H: My best moment of 2019 was when my parents moved to LA. It was a new environment for me and it put me in a new mindset and I love that I am able to go back and forth. In 2020, I am looking forward to graduate and join my family in LA.
If your best friend could tell us something embarrassing about you, what would it be?
H: I’m a terrible singer.
