Quick and fun interview with a Lifestyle blogger Kimmy aka @whoakimosabe from Chicago.

Kimmy please tell me a little about yourselves.

KS: My name is Kimmy. I am the product of immigrant parents.  I grew up in Ohio, and moved to Chicago 5 years ago.  I am a full-time digital marketing/sponsorship consultant and a part-time lifestyle blogger.

What was your “aha!” moment when it comes to fitness and wellness?

KS: Mental health is equally important as physical health.

What got you initially interested in Yoga and Travel?

KS: Yoga helped me to focus on my inner being, it taught me about patience and how to calm my mind.  Travel has always been an interest of mine, experiencing different countries and culture helps to gain an understanding of the world and life in general.

Tell us about your business and does it revolve around well being? What is the vision behind the idea?

KS: The vision started when I challenged myself to be bold and brave with sharing my life experiences in hopes to inspire others.

How has Yoga benefited other parts of your life besides the healthy lifestyle side?

KS: It’s a nice escape from my busy sometimes chaotic life. It’s taught me to be self-aware. It focuses your attention on your body’s abilities in the now. It helps develop breath and strength of mind and body.

What’s your take on Instagram in general?

KS: IG is really what you make it. It can be a dangerous place if you aren’t happy. It’s easy to fall down the rabbit hole of comparing yourself to others.  On the other hand, it’s a great marketing tool and way to stay connected to friends.  For me, it’s been a great tool to grow my business and introduced me to a network of amazing people that I probably wouldn’t have encountered in real life on my own.

Do you like to curate your feed or keep it as close as possible to your authentic self?

KS: My feed is very authentic to me. What I post really depends on my mood.  I rarely plan my posts. My content usually coincides with a personal story, I feel it’s the best way for my followers to truly get to know me.

If you could give our readers three pieces of advice to make their travel experience more rewarding, what would they be?

KS: Stop making excuses. Buy the ticket and figure it out later. Get lost, that’s the only way to truly find yourself. Pack light. Travel heavy.

How often are you creating content? Do you have any tips on content creation?

KS: I create content almost every day. Tips would be to think outside the box and be authentic.  Study new trends and learn new tricks to edit and create content.

We know a lot of Yoga and meditation practice is centered on disconnecting and being in the moment, while social media may completely contradict that ideal…how do you manage to find the balance between the two?

KS: Whenever I am out and need to create content for a brand or recap an event.  I typically capture the content and put my phone away for the rest of the night.  I edit and post after.  This allows me to be present and live in the moment.

What is your favorite thing about being a lifestyle blogger?

KS: It’s given me an opportunity to connect with people from all over the world.  Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined my trials and tribulations would allow me to transcend to where I am now.

General words of wisdom you live by?

KS: Don’t be afraid to share your story, you never know who you’ll inspire.

If we visit http://www.whoakimosabe.com/ what would we find?

KS: You’ll find advice/stories on life, relationships, fashion/beauty, festivals, travel.

In closing, what advice would you give someone trying to build their own brand online?

KS: Don’t get lost trying to please other people, sure the goal is to get people to follow you but gimmicks are temporary. If you bring value and authenticity, it will keep them around.  The numbers don’t mean anything if people don’t genuinely care about your brand and trust you.
