Eunyce, please tell us a little about yourself.
EK: I am a Freelance Photographer, Full Stack Creative Marketing Consultant and a Certified Energy Healer currently practicing Reiki Level 3 at LightPath to Wellness. Reiki is an ancient laying-on of hands healing technique that uses life force energy to heal, balancing the subtle energies within the mental, emotional and physical bodies. I’m currently very interested in Biohacking methods such as Red Light Therapy and also passionate about holistic wellness, biomimicry, development and sustainable innovations. I actively advocate for neurodiversity, mental health and environmental rights.
What would you say is your favorite thing about being a lifestyle blogger?
EK: I would say that my favorite thing is to connect and meet people who live a very similar lifestyle to mine or are choosing to live a balanced life. That’s just so exciting to me. Also, the times when I make a random post and that particular post happens to touch someone and they reach out letting me know that my post inspired them or made their day. That’s just so heartwarming.
How do you find balance prioritizing and juggling work and your other responsibilities and hobbies?
EK: To be frank, it took a very long time to find my balance with my hobbies and work. I ended up just combining all my interests together and building them towards my career path. Now I just need to figure out how to incorporate my hobby of fine art photography into my career too. I should start selling my photography as prints. You can check out my nature fine art series here!
Everyday is different and that works for me. I used to always need to be on a strict routine but as the years went by, I learned to simply be with the ebb and flow of my energy for the day. Some days I will wake up at 6am, workout, then work until 6pm, then rest. Another day, I’ll wake up at 11am, meditate, rest and work until 3am, another day I’ll rest all day, and sometime I’ll work all day/night with a few power naps.
When it comes to balancing all my other responsibilities, I’ve learned to be highly selective with the time I invest in myself, family, friends, work/projects and giving back to society/volunteering.
What’s your take on Instagram in general? Do you like to curate your feed or keep it as close as possible to your authentic self?
EK: Instagram is a great outlet to be able to share with others and keep in touch with friends. It can be very impactful and inspirational when used for a purpose while showcasing my personality since I’m an introvert. I’m naturally a curator and appreciate aesthetics so it was difficult years ago to find a balance in social media because my authentic self involves a lot of my family in my real life and I didn’t want to post about my family to the public online since my family life is very private. I actually kept this a secret (my friends know about this) but I used to have multiple instagram accounts trying to balance.
If you were to work with any brand on a collaboration, which brand would you choose and why?
EK: I would love to collaborate with @knotonmyplanet and their global ambassador @doutzen. Knot On My Planet allies fashion brands and influencers to support The Elephant Crisis Fund to help end the slaughter of elephants for ivory. It would be incredible to partner with the fashion brands involved and produce an event to market the campaign and spread the message.
What are some of the most important qualities you think are required to be successful in the influencer space?
EK: I would say that it’s important to be consistent and engage with your audience. Really know the who, what, where, when, why you want to influence others and have the mind for marketing your message across all your platforms. Are you influencing for just a profitable gain or do you truly want to influence the world through these digital platforms to reflect your truth to your audience?
Where does your style savvy come from, and where do you get your inspiration?
EK: A lot of my style came from my mother. She has a classic style and that definitely influenced me as I got older. I do like to add a modern eclectic touch to my wardrobe though. I choose to wear quality, sustainable garments that will last me a very long time. (I still have clothing from over 10 years ago that are still good to wear today) and also shop my friends’ closets thanks to closet swap parties. I had a plethora of fashion phases growing up so my style has become quite versatile over the years. However, I prefer to keep my style simple and elegant for the occasion that I’m attending. I’ve also found style inspiration also from Jessica Alba, Miranda Kerr, Emma Watson and.. my girlfriends!
General words of wisdom you live by?
EK: “Take time to rest.” In our information stimulated overworked society, it is so important for self-care maintenance. Our world seems to focus so much on the exterior components of life and always on the go and doesn’t give as much attention to the mental, emotional, spiritual parts within. Let’s start paying attention to every aspect of ourselves.
Why do you think it’s so important for people to stay positive and have high self confidence in life?
EK: I honestly am a true believer in being real with yourself and your feelings. Of course it’s important to be positive, but if you’re feeling like crap, just accept it, allow yourself to feel that feeling, then allow that emotion to pass and shift your mind towards something you’re grateful for. Our society suppresses feeling our negative ‘dark’ thoughts, constantly creates distractions from feeling them and people shouldn’t be afraid to feel them. The reason a lot of this negative energy overpowers and consumes our world is because it is repressed in our systems with shame/guilt and then manifests as depression, anxiety or anger. In the end, energy and emotions are all temporary and when you are real with the energy in motion within yourself, then you begin the journey towards self-acceptance and that creates real high self confidence.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
EK: Oh hell no. If it was easy, it wouldn’t be worth it. It’s never going to be a straight upward line towards success. (Maybe for a few) It’s been a roller coaster of risks, trials & errors, giving up, starting over, and pushing through obstacles. Looking back on it, I wouldn’t have it any other way because I can see how much growth happened in my professional and personal life and the hardships have shaped my resilient character today.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
EK: Being honest and straightforward. Ethics and integrity are important. Be adaptable and flexible too.
Okay that was 6 qualities.
How do you think the Social Media industry will change over the next decade?
EK: The world is going to be a lot more connected digitally. The social media industry has already changed so many other industries such as entertainment, food, art, fashion, tech, travel, dating, small businesses, etc. It’s already happening, but the way people consume is going to shift dramatically over the next 10 years. I predict that car keys will be non-existent; majority of automobile owners will be turning their vehicles on with their phones.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
EK: If you would like professional photography or interested in receiving some energy healing, I’m offering distance healing sessions (in-person sessions if you are in the Fort Lee, NJ area)
