We had a light-hearted conversion with Jennifer the creator behind Instagram’s account @JenniferThebeerdedLady. Sit back and enjoy the interview.
Over the last 10 years, the craft beer industry exploded into the scene, what do you think is responsible for such a quick and innovative growth?
J: The sense of community of craft beer has made the breweries boom. As for the growth in drinking it… word of mouth and the taste. No one can create the bountiful flavors you get from beer, there is no limit!
We’d love to hear how you first fell in love with craft beer. What draws you into the industry?
J: My father led me to fall in love with craft beer. After drinking too many Natty’s and Keystone’s, I grabbed one of my dad’s Shiner Black and enjoyed the sip. I was soon set up in a tasting with two old men pouring many types of beers… I fell in love with Victory Golden Monkey that night.
What do you think sets your account from all the other beer influencers in this industry? Anything you do differently?
J: Influencer… what an interesting word! I only have fun with it, and never make it work. I love and appreciate the fans so much… they are why I am doing it! I ALWAYS KEEP IT POSITIVE! There is no room in this world for negativity! There are many things that have sprouted from The Beerded Lady… Beerded Organics: my skin care line that uses the power of hops, and The Beerded Witch: my journey into the spiritual side of things.
Finish this sentence: “It really grinds my gears when a brand or product that is trying to establish a relationship with me… “
J: doesn’t understand the hard work that goes into each and every post.
Other than the quality of the product, what makes you want to strengthen your relationship with a particular brand?
J: If a particular brand works, tastes good, and provides compensation of some kind for the hard work I put into a post.
Give us your list of 5 top favorite craft beers, number 5 being the most memorable one.
J: ooh… this is a hard one! I don’t know if I can answer it.
- Victory Golden Monkey (first Craft Beer)
- Unibroue La Fin Du Monde (second Craft Beer)
- Haze from Tree House
- BBA German Chocolate from Angry Chair
- Blueberry Fortune (my collab with DCBC)
How often do you take a break from social media?
J: IS there such a thing? Sometimes I take a few days off. But that’s about it!
What’s the perfect environment or atmosphere for a nice cold brew?
J: A cold one? Outside on a patio or a pool in Texas.
What advice would you give craft beer distilleries or beer distributors looking to use the Instagram social media platform to grow their brand’s image?
J: I think it is so important to tap into the influencer market for these groups, there can be a lot of growth through this. Just eyes touching your brand and creation is amazing. Beer is art… so why not express it in a way that many can see?!? Every “influencer” works very hard on the content that they create… beer is a great payment, but money talks baby!
Anything else you want to share with our readers?
J: Fans are why any of us influencers do this! We so appreciate the love you give us every day. I personally love to bring the best and most creative content. I love to let my fans know about the beer I’m drinking. I also love to introduce other products that make drinking beer and alcohol a positive experience.
