In 1972, the Glenlivet and Glen Grant Distilleries Ltd merged with Hill, Thomson and Co. Ltd, and Longmorn Distilleries Ltd to form Glenlivet Distillers Ltd. In 2006, Campari acquired Glen Grant (its only whisky) when Allied Domecq was acquired by Pernod Ricard. To this day, Glen Grant is still one of the biggest selling Single Malts in the world. Glen Grant can only be so distinguished based on the man behind the hour, the master distiller Dennis Malcolm.
Dennis began work at the distillery as an apprentice cooper when he was just 15 years old. For the past 50 years Dennis has dedicated his life to maintaining the quality and integrity of Glen Grant.
Before this my other Glen Grant was the 16 year old dram. Although it was good, it was nowhere in comparison to this beautiful and delicious sustenance. Sometimes the water of life is just that, the brown liquid that sustains our thirst.
Name: Glen Grant 18 year old Single Malt Scotch
Region: Speyside, Scotland
ABV: 43%
Nose: Lightly dried citrus berries and watermelon, lemons with earthy floral. Honey, hibiscus and spices there as well.
Palate: Raisins, cocoa, malt chocolate, zesty vanilla and light caramel. No wood or anything oak related.
Finish: Long and strong finish. Did not expect that much from such a light nose. But it carries well and has a smooth velvety spiced cake finish.
