Our favorite whiskey venue in Brooklyn, NY carries some of the best whisky around. The owner David of WheatedBrooklyn has over 570 different whiskies between Rye, Bourbon, Scotch, Irish, Japanese, etc. Glengoyne 25 is really a gem of a whisky. As with all things sherry, this one is finished in Sherry Casks, which gives it a nice sweetness on the palate.
Name: Glengoyne 25 Year single malt
Region: Highland, Scotland
ABV: 48%
Nose: heavy Sherry influence, you can see both in color and in flavor with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, figs and citrus. If you let it sit you can also smell toasted peanuts and old shoe leather.
Palate: Dark Chocolate (as with many sherries) with dried fruits, spices, and baked almonds. There’s also notes of Vanilla and Honey, especially if you swirl this brown liquid on your tongue in a circular motion.
Finish: The Finish is quite long, and it burns a bit. With a drop of water, it becomes a lot smoother and more softer with the sweetness overpowering the spices.
