Midleton Dair Ghaelach is a single pot still whiskey that was aged initially in refill American oak for between 15 and 22 years and then finished for a year in virgin Irish oak. We are personally not huge Irish whisky drinkers, Scotch def YES, Bourbon, perhaps, Irish.. eh… but we were so glad to give this one a shot. Irish whiskies are usually known to be a lot more cheaper per 1oz than their scotch brother’s, however, this one will set you back a bit. Around $35-40 per 1oz or about $350-400 a bottle. Whoa, you might say to yourself, I know I sure did when I decided to give this a whirl. Although it comes with a hefty price tag, my girlfriend and I were more than happy to obliging to pouring this down our throats. We ended up getting a 2oz pour, because we wanted to savor and really enjoy everything it had to offer, and we were quite contempt with our decision.
We also tried the Midleton Very Rare Irish is a blended Irish whisky. Also on a pricey side, as the Dair Ghaelach, but a bit cheaper.
