This week my gf and I made our way to our favorite local Brooklyn bar and restaurant Wheated.
We decided to keep going with our Bourbon experimentation. We have tried so many different single malts that switching it up once in a while to bourbon is a good way to change the palate experience. Since she and I are not Bourbon experts or not as knowledgeable as we are in Single Malts, we usually just let the owner David, guide us on the experience.
Below are some of the pretty amazing bourbons drams we had that night.
Name: Noah’s Mill
Proof: 114.30
Location: Kentucky Bourbon
Nose: Dried Fruits, Dark Chocolate
Palate: Smooth, Fruity, Nutty with a hint of almonds
Finish: Short Finish, Does not last, however, finishes pretty light and enjoyable
Name: Heaven Hill Select Stock – Straight Bourbon Finished in Cognac Barrels
Proof: 124.4
Location: Kentucky Bourbon – Heaven Hill Distillery
Nose: Hint of Vanilla, caramel, creme brulee, and oak.
Palate: Lighter Caramel, Toasted sugar and more oak.
Finish: Leather, spice, and oak. Very pleasant
Name: Michters 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Proof: 94.4
Location: Kentucky
Nose: Sweet and has a hint of rye at the forefront
Palate: Spicy, rich with hints of toffee, complex with an elegance of richness
Finish: Leaves a spicy feel on the tongue but soon after dies down and leave an oaky dark chocolate flavor.
Name: Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon
Proof: 90.4
Location: Tennessee Whisky
Nose: Maple Syrup, Citrus and hints of Caramel
Palate: Vanilla, Oak, Citrus and spice
Finish: Cinnimon, Cherries and some Rye linger on the tongue
